Dhul-Qarnayn: Based on Surah Al-Kahf (v.83-99)

Though his real identity remains a mystery, the story of Dhul-Qarnayn is one of the Quran’s many captivating stories. Experience the journeys of Dhul-Qarnayn through the eyes of an anonymous foot soldier in his army. He witnesses first-hand the good character and military genius of the man who was both a wise king and a brilliant commander. Through the hardships of war and long travel, this lone soldier comes to appreciate his wise leader more and more. His journeys take him across the known world, interacting with many cultures as Dhul-Qarnayn spreads peace and justice.

This book has been written using the TIBS (Teaching Islam Based on Stories) method, a new way to learn that emphasizes enjoyment for youth while indirectly teaching Islamic moral values and encouraging critical thinking. It can be read on its own for entertainment, in a classroom environment with a teacher, or at home as part of a homeschooling curriculum. With the help of the included teacher’s or parent’s guide, readers will develop a deeper understanding of concepts addressed in Surah Al-Kahf and become more familiar with the Holy Quran, while also reading an enjoyable story.

This book has been written to appeal to children between the ages of 9 and 13 and will help make the concepts found in the Quran relevant to their own lives. TIBS was developed by Mrs. Fariba Kazemi in 2015 to be used to teach Islam to children and youth in Noor House, an academy in Toronto, Ontario. TIBS is designed to motivate curiosity, entertain, and foster the growth of wisdom and analytical skills in learners. TIBS aims to encourage a generation of smart, contemplative Muslims who are deeply fond of the Holy Quran.
